Super Bowl Squares...And the Winners Are?

It's all over but the crying...and for some that might not ever end.  The BSC is proud to have been part of Super Bowl history with the historic game being memorialized with our little game of SB Squares.  The proceeds will be disbursed tonight with $50 going to Aaron Jucket (Shuffalupogus) with his ownership of the first and third quarter squares.  Our host, Matthew Halt (Quate Kings) was lucky enough to own the half-time square and will pocket $25.  The BIG winner was Dennis Ludwig (Enclave Allies) who owned potential every possible square for almost every possible outcome...unbelievable and virtual vice-lock on the final prize of $125!  Congrats to all of our winners and thanks to all that played!  Be on the look out for our March Madness Pool!

Christmas Came Early

Someone got an early Christmas gift as this picture shows!

Medford Logistics (d.b.a. Shuffalupogus) was down 18-14 to the Gutter Sluts with the match on the line.  That is when Scott Risser starting throwing his quates and landed three 3's on the table.  What turned out to be the match of the night saw an incredible comeback for these two gentlemen that up to that night never knew one another.  A great example of what this club is all about...bringing people together through competition.  That was just the first night of this inaugural season.  Good luck to all the teams and we look forward to the rest of the season.

Did Someone Say Ryder Cup?

Bennington Shuffleboard Club vs. Terrace Club?

The season hasn't even started and there is already talk of a potential Ryder Cup type tournament between the BSC and the Terrace Club.  The idea of two clubs playing a series of different match play competitions is currently just talk but one can dream.  It would be interesting to see if we can plan to do it sometime in the coming months but the focus is squarely on getting this season off the ground.

Introduction of the BSC

TCoS is proud to announce the creation of the Bennington Shuffleboard Club.

The Board Members of the Triple Crown of Shuffleboard recently accepted Matthew Halt's proposal to allow the Bennington Shuffleboard Club (BSC) to reside under the umbrella of the TCoS organization.  The history and prestige of the TCoS brand is instantly recognizable as the organization has promoted the wonders of top-shelf competitive shuffleboard around the state for the last decade.  Events such as March Madness, the Medford Masters and the Derby Day Shuffleboard Tournaments have been the calling card of the TCoS.  More recently the success of theTerrace Club, serving the residents of Riverton and the surrounding areas, has provided Matt the confidence to bring a similar setting for those in the Medford area.

The Inagurial season will begin in December and run through June taking place once a month on the second Wednesday of the month.  We will have close to 30 participants, making up 10 teams with a dedicated list of substitutes, that will allow for the creation of two divisions. The season will culminate with the crowning of a team that will play six matches with the top three teams in each division entering a playoff that will eventually result in a champion.

Nothing has been confirmed, as calls to their agent have not been returned, but it is believed TCoS fan favorites the legendary Quate Kings are rumored to be taking part in this inaugural season.  The Quate Kings, ever the ambassadors of the game, will be entering 2017 with their busiest schedule on record with the three big tournaments and the Terrace Spring Season.  The members of BSC are comprised of many talented individuals, so it will be interesting to see how the Quate Kings can compete in a new environment...one of the many developing story lines that will make up this history making season.

The desire of the BSC is to bring together members of the Medford area and surrounding communities to socialize around the shuffleboard table and experience all the wonders that come with participating in competitive shuffleboard.  We wish all the best to the members of BSC.  We hope they come to realize how special  the journey is that they are about to take, and that they have the ability to pay it forward for future generations of shuffleboard players.

A Sign of Things to Come?

A sign of things to come? The universe just coming back into balance? A lot less beer consumed?  However you want to view it the Kings took the Dead Rabbits behind the shed and improved their record (5-2) and their point differential (+37) to a league best...48 hours before the gates open and the  3-year old colts make their mad dash for the roses. Personally we think it is a sign of things to come but we will soon find out who will be draped in a bed of roses and be signing "My old Kentucky Home!"

Kings Blame Booze For Loss

(Riverton, New Jersey) - As of last night, the Kings are officially blaming heavy beer and liquor consumption for their 4th place finish at the Medford Masters. Two Points: Did the Kings not realize those drinks would add up throughout the day long marathon? and, The Kings have won more than a few tournaments when their competitors succummed to the flowing taps.
Be careful - heavy drinking could impair coordination!

Derby Day Set for May 7th

(Riverton, New Jersey) - The Triple Crown of Shuffleboard is happy to  announce  the 5th Derby Day Shuffleboard Tournament will take place May 7th. This is the third and final event in the 2016 Triple Crown of Shuffleboard. The tournament is once again an Invitational, not an Open Tournament. There will be a limit of 10 teams (20 players total) in the tournament. Register now to avoid missing out on this tournament.

There will be food, drinks, and world-class shuffleboard action. Non-playing guests are encouraged to attend, cheer for your favorite shuffleboard team, and watch the Derby.

As usual, the tournament format is double elimination. Games are played to 15. You do not have to win by 2. The team coming from the loser bracket will have to win two consecutive games to take the title. The current plan is to have the tournament tip off at 2PM sharp. We will play the first round games and the first two consolation matches. Then, we will break for the Derby (post time 634PM), and re-start at 7PM with the semifinals, moving towards a final around 10PM.

Pretty Big News Up North

(Winnipeg, MA) - If you follow the Winnipeg sports scene at all (and i think most of you do), you've probably already heard the big news about the Blue Bombers going back to Royal Blue. Regardless, we felt it was newsworthy and wanted to let anyone who missed it in on the big news.
Regular Season starts June 24.

What A Fine Tailor They Have On Bennington!

Damn It Feels Good To Win The Masters.

Dead Rabbits Start, Finish Strong To Take Medford Masters

(Medford, New Jersey) - The Dead Rabbits took down some of the area's top teams in succession yesterday. Early on, the Rabbits dispatched Dos Amigos with some fine play. After a three hour layoff, the table shuffleboard world watched a rematch of the 2014 Terrace Club Spring Season Finals. The Dead Rabbits got ahead early and were able to hold of the legendary Quate Kings. After some action in the loser bracker, the Rabbits cooled down The Steamers in the finals to lock up their place in the Championship Game. Emerging from the loser bracket was No Line Available. The Rabbits showed no mercy and dispatched NLA with a great finishing shot by Dave. It was the first Master's title ever for Dave and the first since 2014 for (now 3 time champion) Death Machine.
The aftermath of Dave's clinching shot.

Hosting Dispute Leads To League Site Moving Mid-Season

(Riverton, New Jersey) - No one is sure why, but our hosting company is not cooperating, and is disputing payment of the annual license on the site. In order to keep our fans informed, we're forwarding our page automatically. So they only thing our fans will notice is a longer URL in the address bar.

We swear, we are using a leading company.

Recap - 3 Weeks Later

Riverton, NJ -  Things certainly were Above Ground and Off The Wall. We had lots of great matches early on with the upstart club Perfect Strangers beating local favorites Dianetics! in our first game. Dianetics! was the first team eliminated this year, no doubt disappointing L. Rob Hubbard. As the tournament progressed, teams like Puncher’s Chance, Texas Tuo and REO Teabaggin’ were eventually eliminated. The real story, however, was the Quate Kings being eliminated with losses to Keep Hammerin’ and the ‘77ers. No doubt The Kings expected more. They entered the tournament as money favorites to capture the Triple Crown.

It took two games, but Kim Possible defeated Keep Hammerin’ to become this first coed champs in TCoS major tournament history.  For the first time ever, both trophies went home to the same house. It looks like Kim and Brett need to order a trophy case.

The Triple Crown of Shuffleboard now enters its 45 week offseason. We’ll be back next March. Also, mark your calendar for the next Derby Day Shuffleboard Tournament – May 7th, 2016 at 2PM.

Kings Walk Through Medford Masters...Eye Triple Crown

(Medford, NJ) - It was a wonderful day at Augusta North. We were back at the new/old/ancestral home of the Medford Masters. Life on Bennington was good for the Quate Kings. Four straight wins gave the Kings their second major title of the 2015 TCoS Season. There were a lot of battles early on, but no one could touch The Kings. "Revised Rabbits" were re-named "Family Emergency" mid-way through the tournament as Scott picked up Sandhun as a teammate. Few knew that Sandhun has been playing table shuffleboard in the Sri Lankan professional league for 23 years. Even so, the Kings finished with a 21-9 victory over their ethnically-diverse adversaries.

The Kings are now better than even money favorites to win the Triple Crown. Can anyone stop them?

The Kings pose with a random guy after clinching their second major of the season.

Looking Ahead...TCoS 2015 - A Few Promises

(Riverton, NJ) - Yes, we are at the low-point of the offseason. It seems as if the next TCoS season will never come. Rest easy, next Spring, we will be doing our business on the butcher block. There are always surprises, but here are three things you can bank on:
1) Rick will talk about maybe not having a tournament. Then, he will make a late-February announcement of the the 12th Annual MMST.
2) The Masters will be in Medford.
3) Floyd "Money" Mayweather will take a break from punching girlfriends, and agree to a mega-fight for May 2nd. As is tradition, Floyd's fight will start right after the conclusion of the Derby Day Shuffleboard Tournament.

This will happen, guaranteed. You can bank on it.

No Molly In Da Club

(Riverton, NJ) - You won't find any MDMA use at our Derby event. Last year, the closest thing i saw to contraband was someone selling small Snickers bars labeled "Not For Individual Sale".
Guess which of these guys would later test positive for ecstasy?

Vin Scully Will Be Back For Another Year

(Los Angeles, CA) - Vin Scully is staying in the booth for the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 86-year-old Hall of Fame announcer will return for his record 66th season with the team in 2015. The announcement was made by in Korean, Spanish and English by players Hyun-Jin Ryu, Yasiel Puig and Justin Turner on the Dodger Stadium video board in the second inning of Tuesday night's game against Atlanta.

The news was greeted with loud cheers and a prolonged standing ovation for Scully, who stood and waved to fans from his booth, where he hugged his wife, Sandi.

A decision about Scully's future has become an annual rite of passage in recent years as he evaluates his health and his family's wishes in considering whether he wants to continue.
T
TCoS will have to wait at least one more season to have Mr. Scully call our events.

I Blacked Out...What Happened? Is It Really June?

(Riverton, NJ) - The Triple Crown season ended with a bang..or maybe it didn't. I have no way to tell. The last thing i remember was driving home from Lumberton on May 1st. We will talk to some eyewitnesses and gather the facts as to what happened in the final TCoS event of 2014.

Tiger Woods To Miss (Golf) Masters

Tiger Woods will miss the Masters after undergoing back surgery earlier this week for a pinched nerve that has been hurting him for several months, the world's No. 1 player said on his website.
It will be the first time in 20 years that Woods will not play in the event. "After attempting to get ready for the Masters, and failing to make the necessary progress, I decided, in consultation with my doctors, to have this procedure done," Woods said in the statement.

"These Go to Eleven"

The Kings have taken 7 of 11.

It's In The Books

(Lumberton, NJ) - The Quate Kings wrapped up their 7th title at the 11th Annual Pop's Pub Shuffleboard Tournament. The Kings ran through the field and left the other 11 teams feeling ashamed to have even participated. Can the Kings extend their run through the rest of the season. Can either Rick or Matt take the Triple Crown?
It's a Big Money Game and these guys are Big Money Players.

Nothing But Rain

(Lumberton, NJ) - Don't let the weather scare you. Like the Astrodome, Pop's Pub is an indoor facility. Drive safely. It will be dry inside, even if the rain lasts for 40 days and 40 nights.

Note the roof in the above image. It keeps the athletes dry.
