(Honolulu, HI) - Progress threatens to change our greatest All-Star contest, the annual Pro Bowl. For years, true football fans knew the real action came the week after the Super Bowl. A few years back, Roger & Co. decided to move the Pro Bowl to the week before the Super Bowl. The effect was that even the players losing the conference championship games would look for a way out of the Pro Bowl.  Now, the NFL is changing the format of the game, instituting a captain's draft and eliminating kickoffs.

The answer is simple, keep the Pro Bowl in Hawaii. Return it to after the Super Bowl. Allow the game to occupy its rightful position as the premier all-star contest in all of sports.

Matt Wins Triple Crown & 50 Million Dollar Bonus

(Riverton, NJ) - On a night that felt more like a coronation than a contest, Matt H entered an exclusive club. By winning all three TCoS events, Matt joined Rick G. as the only winners of the prestigious Triple Crown of Shuffleboard.

Some cynics have commented that, with two winners in two seasons, winning the Triple Crown of Shuffleboard is not as great an achievement as baseball's Triple Crown. The naysayers are wrong. There was a 45 year gap between Carl Yastrzemski and Miguel Cabrera. However, before Yastrezemski's Triple Crown in 1967, Frank Robinson won it in 1966, just a year earlier. Additionally, in 1933, the Triple Crown was won in both leagues...both by Philadelphia players! Philadelphia Athletic Jimmie Foxx won the AL Triple Crown while the Phillies' Chuck Klein won the NL Triple Crown.

What's the lesson? Winning a Triple Crown is a huge feat. But sometimes huge feats come in bunches.

2nd Annual Derby Day Shuffleboard Tournament Recap

(Riverton, NJ) - Our heroes lived up to their name. The Quate Kings won while barely breaking a sweat. Never threatened, they rolled off three wins to take the the title before Mayweather even left his locker room. Runners-Up REO Teabaggin' put forth a valiant effort in the final game, but the Kings showed to be in a class of their own.. The rest of the field has their work cut out for them if they hope to challenge the Quate Kings next year.

Since announcing their participation in Derby Day 2013, everything coming out of the Quate Kings' camp has been positive. Until now. A highly placed source says their are some awkward feelings between these two shuffleboard legends. No one wants to go on the record, but it seems Matt's potential Triple Crown is testing their professionalism. Last year, Rick won the Triple Crown. If Matt wins this year, does it diminish Rick's achievement last year? We hope that when the games start, all of this drama won't matter.

Last year, a embroidered Cutter & Buck Golf shirt was the gift. We are hearing rumors the sponsors decided to step it up this year (translation: a higher quality gift). Additionally, the sponsors have decided to honor both those "Going The Distance" as well as the hosts of our three events. A total of six players will be honored.

Another Honor For Rick

(Lumberton, NJ) - Rick is certainly having an impressive run. Last year, Rick won the Triple Crown of Shuffleboard. He is in contention for this year's award based on Quate Kings victory at March Madness. Additionally, Rick (known professionally as Dale Doback) is being considered for inclusion in the Top 100 Business Executives book. When asked, Rick commented "Other than having a star named for me at the International Star Registry, this is the biggest honor I've ever received."

(Medford, NJ) -As we approach the 5th Masters Shuffleboard Tournament, it's proper to recognize the only 2 time champions - Prestige Worldwide. "Huff & Doback" came from nowhere to win in 2010. In 2011, they were unsuccessful in defending their title. However, they stormed back in 2012 to defeat Ashley Schaeffer BMW in the finals.

Will Prestige Worldwide set aside petty differences to defend their title in 2013? The short answer is yes. Shuffleboard legend Rick commented "We will be there. And we will <expletive deleted> <expletive deleted> up."

A Tradition Unlike Any Other

Following the approval by the board of trustees of the Triple Crown of Shuffleboard, I am proud to announce the new home of the Masters Shuffleboard Tournament.  This great event will take place at the _________ residence on April 13^th, 2013. 

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Ø  The tournament will take place in Medford, NJ.

Ø  Doors will open at 12:00PM with the first game to begin at 1:00PM.  This should give teams time to get a feel for the board and a few drinks in your system.

Ø  Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled game time. In the event one of our games finish early or if we experience a no-show we can move on with the tournament.

Ø  Format is 10 teams with “Prestige Worldwide” and “Ashley Shafer BMW” to receive first round byes.

Ø  Double Elimination Format – All games will be played to a final score of 18.  First team to get to 18 points wins.

Ø  Random Seeding. Live drawing of 1st Round Game Times and Matchups occurs at the "Par 3 Practice" ceremonies on Thursday, April 11 at 8PM.

Ø  House Rules Apply - Rules will be posted and made available to all teams prior to start of games

Ø  $60 Team Entry Fee ($10 donations will be excepted)

Ø  Fee includes all you can eat/all you can drink/all day long

Ø  TV’s will be carrying all of the days action of the Master’s Tournament as well as all of the other sports action of the day.

Ø  Shootarounds and practice sessions will be offered in the weeks leading up to the tourney to allow teams to get a feel for the board.  Please feel free to contact me to set up practice sessions.

Ø  Those who do not wish to field a team are welcome to attend and enjoy all the tournament festivities.  It’s a great guys day out.

Ø  For those playing in the tournament, team shirts and/or costumes are encouraged.

Ø  There will be a limit of 10 teams (20 players) in the tournament. Demand is likely to exceed space available.  Register your team before April 8^th to secure your spot.

Prizes are as follows:

Champion: $400.00 + Team Name engraved on an official Masters Tournament Golf Ball to be displayed for years to come.

2nd Place: $150.00
